Preparing for Spring Market

Image
What a joy to be sitting looking at snow, yet thinking about spring! That said, it appears that spring market will be here before the season actually arrives. As in past markets, inventory remains a persistent issue. There are currently fewer than 600 homes on the market in Montgomery County, less than half of “normal.” This lack of inventory means that even with the post-covid spike in interest rates, prices have held steady, even rising slightly in some areas. Speaking of interest rates, after surpassing 8 percent briefly, rates have crept back down below 7 percent (on a 30-year fixed rate with decent credit). Rates are expected to drop more as inflation is curbed. As that happens, buyers who have been waiting out the rates will resume their property searches, causing-you guessed it-competition. So what does this mean for you? Well, with inventory low and rates still expected to drop, many lenders are offering programs designed to let buyers buy now and take advantage of rates

This is the first installment in a series for people who would like to stage their homes for their own enjoyment rather than to put them on the market (though if you want to put it on the market, definitely call me!) This first post is a little long, future posts will be shorter. We will use a number of tricks and tools to get our homes staged and will be working bit by bit in manageable pieces. I will post weekly so that we have the weekend to complete or plan for each week’s task. This week is easy. Before we start doing all the things that will need to be done to make our homes show ready, we need to understand what we’re working with While I understand that oftentimes we develop deep emotional attachments to the spaces where we have built significant portions of our lives. The toughest task we will face this week is to turn those emotions off. The first task this week is to create a place for information. It could be a three-ring binder, a file folder, or a small file that has a

Thoughts on the New Look

It's been some time since I've been involved in a rebrand, and honestly, this is the first time I've done my own. It's more exciting when it's yours. My new business cards showed up this week and I was actually giddy over the embossing (hit me up and I'll send you a lovely embossed business card).  If feels like I'm a grown up agent now, as if the last four years have somehow been practice. But real estate is always practice. You're always learning, always seeing something new that you haven't seen before, because every transaction is unique. Every client is unique. Every relationship is unique. And now my brand is unique. I hope you like it and that you have a chance to understand the phrase "New look, same 5-star service." It will always be 5-star service.

Who am I and Why am I Here?

Hi.  I suppose you're wondering who I am and why you should be taking this moment with me. I'm the parent of a launched child, a house full of "accidental" pets that I never expected to have living here. I'll tell you the stories one day, I promise. I'm also a real estate agent working in Maryland.  Real estate is different than I had imagined. I don't know why I imagined it the way I did, but it brings up a lot to talk about, most of which has nothing to do with houses. But some does. Anyway, I'm not really limiting myself in any way here so I guess we'll all see what happens together. Let's have some fun!
